About PlanningDD

Irish planning applications are large, complex documents. The public has a right to engage with them but rarely has the tools to do so meaningfully. Applicants submit them without always knowing where the gaps are. PlanningDD was built to change that — to make the rigour of Irish planning law accessible to everyone with a stake in the process.

Why we do it

Planning applications in Ireland are decided in public but rarely understood in public.

The documents are technical, the law is complex and most people — applicants included — don’t have the expertise to know where the gaps are. That’s not fair on anyone. A flawed application wastes the council’s time, the public’s time and the applicant’s money. Refusals and appeals that could have been avoided with better information at the start cost everyone.

Applicant first

We offer every audit to the applicant first.

A correct application from the start is better for developers, better for councils and better for the public — who can be confident the law is being applied. If the applicant doesn’t engage, the same findings are available to the public and councils. Planning law applies regardless of who asks. That’s not obstruction — that’s the process working as it should.

PlanningDD exists to make that rigour available to everyone. Not just those who can afford a planning consultant.

Who built it

Irish-built

PlanningDD is an Irish-built platform, developed by an experienced software engineer with a background in AI and data systems, working with planning professionals to develop the audit methodology.
